New Delhi . A significant step has been taken to give a new direction to digital sports and skills development in India. The Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gosu Academy and Bharat Esports Professional Federation (BEPF). This initiative aims to provide world-class esports training, certification, and employment opportunities to Indian youth, thereby developing an organized esports ecosystem in the country.

This agreement is considered a major step towards formalizing the rapidly emerging e-sports sector in India. The MoU was signed in the presence of Tahseen Zahid , Pankhuri Gupta , Francisco Javier , and Braden Plen .

This partnership will, for the first time in India, establish esports as a structured skill development program. This program will not only train youth in gaming, but also provide them with a clear career path, certification, and employment opportunities.

This initiative will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will launch government-certified esports skills programs based on global standards. These programs will cover aspects such as gaming strategy, analytics, team management, coaching, and professional competition. This will provide youth with the benefit of an organized and professional training system.

In the second phase, modern e-sports skills centers will be established across the country. These centers will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, high-performance computing systems, data analytics, and professional coaching. The goal is to provide international-level training to youth in India, enabling them to participate in global competitions and bring glory to the country.

Pankhuri Gupta ‘s role was particularly noteworthy on this occasion . She has played a significant role in integrating esports into mainstream skill development programs. Under her leadership, BEPF has coordinated with government agencies and global organizations, giving esports institutional recognition in India. She also stated that esports can be an effective medium to channel youth energy in a positive direction and strengthen the goal of “Digital India.”

This partnership will provide youth with career opportunities not only within the country but also internationally. The e-sports industry is rapidly growing globally, and many new career options are emerging, including professional players, coaches, analysts, content creators, and event managers.

Experts believe this initiative will strengthen India’s skills development infrastructure and lead to large-scale job creation. It will also boost entrepreneurship and accelerate the digital economy.

Esports is also gaining increasing recognition internationally, with efforts underway to include it in platforms like the Olympics. This partnership could prove to be a significant step towards establishing India on the global esports map.

Speakers during the event emphasized that this MoU is not just an agreement but part of a comprehensive vision aimed at empowering youth, nurturing global talent and making India a leader in the field of digital sports.

This initiative will also give new impetus to the “Digital India” campaign and help empower the country’s youth to become self-reliant through modern technology and skills. In the future, this partnership could play a key role in establishing e-sports as an organized industry in India. – Dr. Mangaleshwar Tripathi
